I was artistically trained as a painter. My eye was taught to look at composition and visual relationships in a piece of art. I utilize these skills when designing for the stage. It is not only about the individual characters. Their costumes must reflect and accent their personalities but the garments must also relate to each other as a full composition. I look at pattern, rhythm, shape and color to create relationships on the stage.
